Frequently Asked Questions About Packaging, Filling, Labelling and Coding Equipment
Seagle Coding & Technical Services supplies and supports packaging equipment for production lines in South Africa and across Africa. Here are straightforward answers to common questions about filling, labelling, coding, marking and conveying equipment.
What does Seagle Coding & Technical Services do?
We help manufacturers choose, install and support equipment for filling, labelling, coding, marking and conveying products. Our range includes filling machines, labelling machines, industrial inkjet printers, laser coding systems, conveyors and related production-line equipment.
Do you supply packaging equipment in South Africa?
Yes. We supply packaging equipment to businesses throughout South Africa and support customers across Africa. With offices in Durban, Cape Town, Johannesburg and Gqeberha, we can help with individual machines or a coordinated production-line solution.
Do you supply filling machines?
Yes. We supply filling equipment for a range of products and container sizes. Options include piston fillers for thicker products, with fill volumes selected to suit the application. The right machine depends on the product, its viscosity, the container and the output you need.
What products can a piston filler be used for?
Piston fillers are commonly used for thicker or more viscous products such as sauces, creams and ointments. We assess the product, required fill volume, container opening and production speed before recommending a machine.
Do you supply labelling machines?
Yes. We supply labelling equipment ranging from simple manual round-bottle labellers to automatic front-and-back systems with conveyors, container stabilisation and electronic label applicators. We will match the system to your container shape, label size and required speed.
Can you label round bottles?
Yes. We offer solutions for partially or fully wrap-around labels on round containers. For lower-volume applications, the Impala Manual Round Bottle Labeller provides simple changeovers and operates without electricity or compressed air.
Can you apply front and back labels to bottles or containers?
Yes. Our front-and-back labelling systems can automatically apply two labels to suitable bottles or containers. A typical system can include a conveyor, container stabilisation and electronic settings for repeatable changeovers between products.
Do you supply conveyors for packaging lines?
Yes. We supply conveyors for moving products between filling, labelling, coding and packing processes. Depending on the application, a conveyor can include a stainless-steel profile, adjustable supports and guide rails, an Acetal slat-band belt, accumulation tables and variable-speed control.
Can conveyors be adjusted for different container sizes?
Yes. Adjustable guide rails and supports allow many conveyor systems to accommodate different bottles, containers and packaging formats. We confirm the size and stability of each container before specifying the conveyor layout.
Do you supply inkjet printers for date coding and batch coding?
Yes. We supply industrial inkjet printers for dates, batch numbers, lot codes and other traceability information. Packages can include the printer, accessories, installation and operator training, depending on your production requirements.
Do you supply laser coding machines?
Yes. We supply laser coding systems for permanent, high-contrast marking on suitable packaging materials. A complete installation can include the laser, machine stand, guarding and fume extraction.
What can a CO2 laser printer mark on?
Depending on the material and application, CO2 laser systems can mark PET bottles, plastics, PP or PE films, boxes, cartons and other packaging. We test or assess the substrate before recommending a laser so that the finished code is clear and permanent.
What is the difference between inkjet coding and laser coding?
Inkjet printers apply ink to create dates, batch numbers and production codes, making them versatile across many products and packaging types. Laser coders create a permanent mark without ink or solvent consumables. The best choice depends on the material, line speed, code quality, operating environment and running cost.
Can Seagle help with a complete filling, labelling, coding and conveyor setup?
Yes. We can bring filling, labelling, coding and conveying equipment together as one coordinated production-line solution. This helps ensure that machine speeds, container handling and changeovers work together from the outset.
What information do you need to recommend the right machine?
Please share the product, container type and dimensions, fill volume, label size, coding requirements, target production speed and available floor space. Photos, videos and product samples are also helpful. We will then advise whether a manual, semi-automatic or automatic solution is most suitable.
What should be ready before installation and commissioning?
Please make sure the required electrical supply and services are available and that operators, containers, closures, product and labels are on site. Having representative production materials ready allows us to commission and test the equipment under realistic conditions.
Do your machines come with a guarantee?
Our standard guarantee on new equipment is 12 months from delivery. It excludes fair wear and tear, wilful misuse and use outside the purpose for which the equipment was supplied. Any product-specific terms will be clearly stated in your quotation.
Do you offer rental or lease options?
Yes, rental or lease options may be available on selected equipment. Availability, pricing and agreement terms depend on the machine, the application and the customer’s requirements. Contact our team to discuss the options for the equipment you need.
